  • Let’s Go Giants & Everything is Broken: I’m thankful Quinn Norton is writing well and often. I think she is unusually able to honor the complexity and ambiguity of stories that are increasingly told in hyperbole from afar.
  • America Eats Out: a good academic article that woke me up to how recently many culturally-central eating trends were created.
  • From the Streets of Compton to Tom Brady and Gisele’s Old House by Byron Crawford: the first I’ve read of Byron, it’s about so much more than what it says on the tin and is an engrossing read.
  • I read Hackers by Stephen Levy but didn’t enjoy it this time around. Historical computer science books tend to read like medium history - historical in tone, but limited in cultural memory.
