Beautifully written and heartbreaking, this is much more about a man, his father, and the ramifications of political imprisonment than it is about Libya or Qaddafi - though it does introduce the reader to them in bits and pieces. It did more to make me understand how corrupt regimes affect and damage the human psyche than any other book that I’ve read as an adult.
I’d recommend it, if you want that experience. It’s a very sad read, but it’s very worthwhile.
