I read Ham on Rye by Charles Bukowski on

Just like Farm (and other F words), this one hit the spot. It’s crude, profane and meaningful.

It has things to say about the American Dream and society, but doesn’t hit you over the head with them: they don’t feel like authorial subtext, just the natural themes you’d see if you were really living that life.

It’s fun, and funny, and a bit gross. It was my first Bukowski. I think I’ll read some more, eventually.
