I read Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid on

Review

This book absolutely hooked me. I would sit down to read for 20 minutes and end up diving in for an hour or more.

And I was astounded by how deep and real it was, in combination with that - that never for a moment did I feel like the story was heading a certain way in order to drive home an idea or a statement, but it was just naturally flowing.

Such a Fun Age is about a lot of things, but it’s a lot about wealth and race. I think it’s one of the best books that relates to those things in the form of fiction: it isn’t too subtle or too heavy-handed, and it doesn’t indulge in simple answers.

It’s a very good book. If you’re looking for engaging fiction that’s thrilling and a bit unsettling about real cultural, societal, and personal ills, this is worth a read.
